We’re dedicating this year to further the discourse around how performance practices are presented and sustainably supported.

Together with Glasgow International and Liverpool Biennial we have founded the Performance Research Network with the aim to advance thought leadership in the field and explore how we can continue to support and present artists with interdisciplinary performance practices. With a curatorial-led and process-oriented research network, we have been considering these concerns through a series of roundtable discussions, conversations and hosting public talks with practitioners in the field which you can find here.

We also continue to give a voice to artists through a newly created publishing platform  You’ve Got Mail! This new monthly newsletter offers artists, thinkers, curators and practitioners active in the field of performance a platform to share their current research, thoughts and practice through text, written word, moving image and pictures.

On the occasion of Know Wave independent online radio’s London relaunch, Louise O’Kelly caught up with two artists from the 2019 edition, Paul Maheke and Melika Ngombe Kolongo (Nkisi) for a mystical exchange on the concept of transcendence and performance practice.

More than ever, arts organisations like ours need your help to continue supporting a new generation of artists. Your support will help to ensure that Block Universe remains a vital independent platform for ground-breaking works that speak to our times. Any level of donation is welcome. Your gift directly enables the creation, production and realisation of newly commissioned work.
